uhhuh. when i first joined guzheng, i must have seemed like a brat, like a bimbotic stupid obnoxious brat, who was seriously obsessed with the piano more than the guzheng. yeahs. its like everytime before cca, first thing is play piano. and as a piano player, there was nothing to look at, no one to bother about. just me and the piano, me and the music i create. but when i joined an ensemble, i learnt that i'm not the only one, there's like 39 other people playing with me, and the music i create must blend in with theirs. last time, mine was so off, so out, the rhythm was seriously yuck. and when seniors told me, sometimes i'd just say "ok" but never really meant it. then i got to mature with the ensemble, and i came to terms with the fact that i cannot just think about myself anymore. i can't just face the guzheng and play it any way i want to, not anymore. its not the piano, its something different, something special in its own way.

so i decided to commit myself to seriously learn what it means to be in an ensemble, to play like i mean it, to blend in, to fuse with the whole ensemble. to fit in. yes, its so different, its a totally different feeling, not the same feeling i have ever gotten or can ever get from staging a performance on the piano. not because its east and west, but rather because performing a piano piece on stage, i just have to check myself, to observe the way i play and make sure i get it all right, and play it well. but on a guzheng, in an ensemble, i have to observe others too, i have to adjust the tempo, the mood, the dynamics, to meet others. now, its not about i but we. yeah, its no longer the same. and i put in my effort for this concert, i'm sure everyone did. and our efforts all paid off, because we got a loud crazy cheer and we were satisfied. with ourselves, with each other.

yup. i've really matured, i've learnt to give and take, i've learnt the true meaning of teamwork. and i guess this is a classic example of "tai shang yi fen zhong, tai xia shi nian gong". the concert flew by so quickly, it started and ended before i could even grasp what was going on!

yeh, enough mushy stuff. SYF'S on 250407! lets give it our best again, lets do better than what we did today! lets aim high high high for a gold with honours! this year, we can do it, together! all 56 of us, the joy the sweet taste of success, will be shared between all of us! we can do it! <33

we did a fab job for the concert, so lets do an even better job for SYF! make everyone proud, us, laoshi and all our supporters! (x lets JIAYOUU guzheng! <33
