i think during practice today, lydia had said a lot of things, and there's really no point talking/scolding/preaching anymore because like what she said, what has to be said, have been said. what we need to do now is to really try really hard to get into the concert mood. not panic, maybe being too anxious and nervous and stressed over concert is not a good thing. but at least know that, okay MY concert is coming.

i'd like you guys to watch the video above. i think it's really touching. its 飞天 performed by hwachong co in 1999, for syf. listen to it, and think about it. i saw the video and i cried. at the start of the 快板, look at the 3 guzheng players. who'll be more partial to look at? the one on the most left, why? reason being, SHE MOVED. SHE BOTHERED TO MAKE THAT EXTRA EFFORT TO CONNECT WITH THE AUDIENCE RATHER THAN JUST MOVE FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS JUST BECAUSE SHE CAN'T REACH THE NOTES.

is this the concert we want? not just for one song but for every song, we're able to connect with the audience. although the score is different and what we can play is limited to guzheng only, i think we can do. we have the caliber to do it, that's why we're in nanyang guzheng ensemble.

concert. do you want the audiences to leave the auditorium discussing with their friends about how touching the concert was, how magnificent the concert was though we only have guzheng, or would you prefer the audiences to start listing out what they have to do once they reach home immediately the concert ends?

like what vivien and lydia said, it is not just their concert, its OUR concert. everybody's tired. if the juniors are tired then the seniors will be more tired.

scores, some have yet to memorise. this shows something, as long as you've practiced enough, the song will automatically be in your head, you do not have to spend extra time staring at it or reciting the notes out loud. if you still can't memorise the scores, you haven't practiced enough.

if the seniors can find time to memorise the scores, i don't see why you cannot.

another thing about looking at the conductor and listening for one another. if you think you can manage playing the soon all on your own, then i suggest you ask to play a solo piece rather than play as an ensemble.

think about it. if we did it in 2005, we can do it again in 2008. if we did it in 2007, i dont see why we cannot this year.

no point keep saying jiayou when so many of our oiltanks are so corrupted and so full of holes because whatever oil we pour in, they will still leak out.

mend the holes, tie up the lose ends. we don't have much time left. crazy practice schedules, but you're not the only one.

this' a test to how much effort you put in for this concert.

last year after syf, many of the seniors cried, i cried. because we knew then that the gold with honours didn't come easy. we were so touched that we just couldn't stop crying we knew we had done our best. and we receive the gold with honours with a YES! and not, 'okay loh'.

remember, we're an ensemble, a team. either we rise up together or fall together.
